      We only got wind here. I'm amazed how Colorado gets snow and all AZ gets is wind. What is your girl's favorite veggie? Sofia tried to eat the frawns of the carrot like a "bunny" and proceeded to choke! These dragon carrots are awesome though. Almost like eating candy.

      Yes I took this at sunset. I love going out and pulling up veggies just before cooking them. Not two minutes later were the carrots in the oven with the potatoes and chicken.

    beautiful! kids will eat anything from the garden, right? my children went through a phase of picking and eating raw collards with herbs rolled into the middle. they called them collard tacos.

    i have to disguise the carrots and hide them in the apple sauce, otherwise they're not being eaten. so i love this photo!!

      Do you make your own apple sauce? Sofia loves to eat soup, so I just cook up lots of whatever veggie we have with homemade broth and a potato, then blend it and it becomes a creamy soup. That's how I get her to eat 90% of her veggies. Or I put them into a frittata. Well actually I make veggie muffins too.

    Mmm...this made me think of Thumper's dad's advice "Eating greens is a special treat. It makes LONG ears and great big feet...but it sure is awful stuff to eat...I made that last part up myself!" hehee!

    Oh! I miss our carrots! They just went out of season the other week. Our little guy has loved gnawing his new teeth on them. Yours look perfect! Are they Purple Hazes?

      They are called Dragon carrots. I got them from seed savers exchange. You need to have really loose soil for the carrots to come out well. Otherwise if the root hits a rock it will split. Though two legged carrots are fun!

      Thank you very very much! We are having unseasonably warm weather. I've got spinach, chard, peas, carrots, beets and mint already going. At 68-70 degrees everyday why not grow stuff?!
