Cut, Stamp, Create
Since carving the owl stamp you see in the picture above, I have had an obsession with stamp making. I've been carving out these stamps late at night after the girls have gone to bed. The tools for carving are really, really sharp and I don't want anyone, including myself to get hurt. So I let my creativity bloom at night like one of those century moon flowers.
After making the leaf stamp, I was inspired to make a treasure bag for Sofia. So I took some scrap linen and sewed a small tote bag. I then took the leaf stamp and some ink and put three leaves on both sides. Done. So fun, so easy.
That then lead to using freezer paper to make a stensil for this skirt that I made yesterday.
My mom is in town allowing for a whole lot of mama free time while Viola sleeps.
Remember the peacocks from yesterday? Well here is what I am thinking for the purse. The peacocks will be an outer pocket. The teardrop peacock fabric will be the inner linning and the purple feather like fabric will be the strap. (please ignore the horribly stained berber carpet)
*I would like to do a stamp making tutorial, would you be interested?

I love your skirt!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing what one can get done with just a little bit more free time.
Thanks!
DeleteI love your skirt too!! And your purse is going to be lovely, can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteGreat designs. You are indeed very clever!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!
DeleteUm, let me think... heck yeah! I am soooo interested! Everything in this post is awesome! I might have to "cheat" though and use a stencil! You do know my skills start and stop with a glue stick, right? lol! ;0
ReplyDeleteHehe, I'll do a tutorial for both the stamps and stensil then!
DeleteWow, those are the most professional looking stamps I have ever seen....I would love a tutorial. Are you using lino? I did some shirts with my girls last year some time and they loved it!

Your stamps are beautiful! My husband knows how to make them, but I would love a visual tutorial. Have you heard of letter boxing! You would love it!
ReplyDeleteI have heard of it! I so want to try it. I was just waiting until Sofia got old enough to search for things! I think that would be a great activity this summer. Thanks for reminding me!
DeleteI adore your stamps! I once had a love affair with stamp making. There's a box of supplies in my oldest son's closet (it's the biggest closet in the house). I think you may have inspired me to drag it all back out. (:
ReplyDeleteYou totally should! I've had all this stuff since art school and haven't used it since then. It feels so good to get it out and work with something other then glue sticks and play dough!
DeleteI'd be super keen to see a stamp making tutorial, because those are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThank you! With all the enthusiasm for the tutorial, I'm totally going to get on it! Why not make more stamps!
DeleteHey KC, did you make the green skirt? If so, any chance I can borrow your pattern? I love it, would love to make quite a few for the summer :) Lovely stamps and fabrics too!
