Toddler Art Exploration Month!

When you think toddlers and art, you think finger paints and play dough. But it's so much more then just a big mess on your kitchen table. Toddler art is all about the the process. It's about exploring the materials and what they do to paper or canvas, or your skin. Toddlers are probably the most free artists there are as they have no preconceived notions of how things should look or how a medium should be used.

About two month ago in a last ditch attempt introduce my toddler Sofia to painting, I taped down a huge piece of paper on the floor told her to take her clothes off and paint with her hands feet, legs whatever she wanted. This turned out to be an amazingly eye opening experience. She had a great time and so did I. This inspired me to look more into the toddler art process to see what it was like and how we could dig deeper together.

For the whole month of April I will be bringing you posts about toddlers and art. Every Monday and Thursday there will be a post relating to toddlers and art. I'm finding myself so full of things to talk about I might need to throw in an extra day or two here and there.  I've got guest posts with neat art project tutorials, book reviews, art link ups and even a little music too. Coming up this Thursday I will be talking about natural art materials and doing a giveaway from Stubby Pencil Studio!

If you want to help promote this feel free to grab a button from the sidebar! Feel free to join in the conversation and share your experience with your toddlers and exploring art making.
