Postcards from the Sea: Part Two

As you all well know we love food around here, so it's no surprise that when we travel, we like to eat well on the road too. This trip we ate better then almost any other trip we've been on thanks to Yelp. Daniele signed up for Yelp account this time around and set it up on his phone. It's really cool because so many people rate restaurants and attractions. It was so easy to find restaurants with high quality food. Plus when you check in with Yelp when you get to a restaurant, they often give you a coupon! Most of our meals cost 20-30% less thanks to the coupons. We also have a lovely record of all the places we went just incase we want to go back.

The first picture you see was the first restaurant we went too. I wanted our first meal to be fish and it was. I had a very fresh fish taco with handmade corn tortilla, salmon, and pico de gaio.

One day I had the overwhelming desire to eat a mountain of veggies so we went to this cute urban hole in the wall that served amazing fresh food. The picture you see of the noodle bowl was from there.

We had pastries and gelato several times in Little Italy. Funny thing about going to places with Italians in them, it's nothing special until we meet actual Italians. Then we switch over to speaking Italian and learn more about them and the neighborhood then we knew possible. We go from being customers to family with a simple "Ciao".

The last few food photos come from Tom Ham's SeaFood Restaurant. This place was delicious. This place overlooked the bay so you could watch all the boat come and go. From our window seat you could also see the city skyline and the bridge.

The meal started with a shrimp ceveche on a cucumber slice, then we had steamed mussels and clams in garlic tomato broth. I ordered a New England clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. To finish it off we shared a molten chocolate cake with salted carmel sauce.

Just for a reality check, I ate this whole meal with V in the Boba asleep on my stomach. Well almost the whole thing. She woke up while I was halfway through the chowder. She started screeching that she wanted too eat too, as is her custom now a days. Sofia wanted only to jump up and down because she was so excited to watch the boats and eat the cake to come. There was a lot of wrangling going on.

I highly recommend San Diego as a vacation spot for the family. So much to do, see, and eat. This was our second time there and we only repeated two things from our last trip!

Where is your favorite vacation spot?

    1. You would have loved the place I got the asian noodle bowl at. Sofia loved the bathroom ( it was exposed bricks with modern bathroom fixtures)

    1. We found a vegan sandwich place. I didn't take an pictures but I thought of you while I was there. You would have loved. All local produce and organic. Everything sustainable, even the serving stuff was made of recycled materials.
