Weekending
We often have really lovely weekends together as a family and there is something about having the whole family together that really allows the rhythm to flow. I think maybe it is the extra set of hands to help carry a tired baby or another mouth to tell yet another story before bedtime. This weekend was:
:: continuing glimpses of the ocean
:: progress on a new quilt for a growing girl
:: some fermented pickles
:: a big girl place at the table
:: a morning walk at the market
:: the loot
Hooking up with Amanda for Weekending
Don't for get to check out the interview I did with her from yesterday!
pickles! there is nothing like homemade pickles. and babies that feed themselves, cutest little mess makers ever.
ReplyDeleteI know! I like to give her avocados and also cooked beets. Nothing like red beets all over a baby's body to make you laugh!
DeleteI'm try to teach her not to lift the mat up. I refuse to take it way even though she spills so much food by lifting it right now. At some point she'll get it. :)
Thanks for that interview with Amanda! So great to get to know her better, and to meet you, too!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome!
DeleteI love the light and shade that you capture in your photos...
ReplyDeleteRonnie xo
Looks like you had some delicious food this weekend! We made pickles too.. for the first time. I am hoping they are tasty! Do you have a favorite recipe?
ReplyDeleteI like to use the recipe from Ashely English's canning book as well as the the fermented recipe you see above from Nourish Traditions.
DeleteI hope the pickles are tasty too. Last summer when I made them for a party they were going before the party was over.
Love the upside down look! So spiderman-y! (the kiss in the first movie). I was just flipping through a preserve book to see what I could do with lots of hot peppers. I wish I had lots of cucumbers so I could make pickles-which are my favorite!! great interview-read it through twitter :)
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of peppers are they? If they are long chili's I like to roast and freeze them to use for enchiladas later in fall and winter. As for sweet peppers I like to wash, cut in half, take out the seeds and freeze them. We use them in everything! They have 500% more vitamin C then oranges.
DeleteThanks about the interview. It was a lot of fun to talk to her.
