As a kid I can remember having lots and lots of toys. I was an only child and got a bit spoiled come Christmas time. Now that I have a kid, I want to take the time to give her hand crafted toys. I find that the simplicity and elegance of handmade, far surpasses the plastic stuff you by in the store.
During our recent trip to New Mexico my father gave Sofia this really cool moving dinosaur. It was really the life of the family party.
I recently ordered these two wooden dolls from Woodmouse Toys. Amber Dusick makes all of the wooden toys herself. I've got my eye on the wooden robots as well. I bought the baby carrying mama and the pregnant mama because I thought it would be a good for Sofia to have something that represented really life. Something that would be comparable to her own experiences. Or will be at least.
Yeah for handmade toys. They may cost more but they last longer and have more character then anything Mattel will ever make.
I was hoping to have her gift done by her Birthday, but my new job (2 toddlers & a preschooler) has left me with much less time, and much less energy! I'm working on Sofia's gift now, and will get it in the mail the moment I'm finished. I wish I could've been at her party, it looks like it went wonderfully. I love you guys!
ReplyDeleteWe love you too Beckie! Take your time on her gift. She will love it any time she gets it.
