Handmade felt food
I recently purchased this book. I have no idea what it's called because it's in Japanese. I got it from one of my favorite Etsy shops This and That from Japan. I recently discovered what the Japanese call, "zakka" or handmade things. The Japanese are amazing crafters and sewers. I also purchased a book filled with patterns for little girls clothing from which I want to make every single thing because they are so fantastic.
Back to the felt food book. Although it's in Japanese, it is not hard to follow the illustrations. They are well detailed. Yesterday afternoon I made up these bananas. One is a closed banana and the other you can take the banana out of the peel. I want to make make a whole bag of produce for Sofia so she can "cook" with me in the kitchen. She has some wooden food already but I they are not very realistic. Where as these felt foods are so real! Plus they are soft so if she throws them I don't have to worry about anyone getting hurt.
Once I get used to making these and have cut out a variety of food patterns, I will make a bunch and put them up in the shop.
SO cute, I can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
ReplyDeleteDarn it, you beat me to it! This is the project that I am currently (and slowly) working on for Sofia. I guess this means that I better get moving.
ReplyDeleteWe can collaborate. Let me know what you are working on and I will do something else! I can't wait to see them. The more produce the better I say!
ReplyDeletehmmm. these would be great gifts for all the little ones i know!
