This past weekend I finally got around to two projects that had been in my to do box since December. The first was this black long sleeve lounge shirt for Daniele. It's my first attempt at working with knit fabric for an entire garment. I didn't have a pattern, but worked off of another shirt that he likes. I adjusted the sleeve length so he can lift his arms without the sleeve becoming 3/4 length. I do wish I had a serger. But I'm glad I tried it because now I know a lot more about my sewing machine. Unfortunately it's too warm for him to wear this now, so I'll have think about lounge shorts or something for the next knit project. Actually I have pair of yoga like maternity lounge pants in mind for my self.
The next project I finished was my very first pillow case. I used the envelope style opening so I can wash it and reuse the pillow form inside.
I used the instructions from Martha's Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts, as well as some hints from Pamela's lesson on pillow case making. I'm happy with it. I've already got a few other fabrics lined up to become pillow cases. The only thing I'm not happy about is that I dyed this amazing beautiful fabric a slight purple hue. I placed the fabric to be pre-washed, in with some purple knit fabric not even thinking about it. Of course when I opened the machine and saw the purple I just about punched a hole in the wall. Oh well, lesson learned.

i think the pillow looks lovely! and way to go - branching out on the shirt!
