Sofia's Sun Hat

As you well know from any pictures you've seen on this blog of Sofia, she has very little hair still. So it was imperative that she have a hat for spring and summer now that it's getting hot.  I recently bought Little Things to Sew by Liesl Gibson of Oliver +S.

It has a super cut double sided sun hat in it that I just couldn't resist making. So I dug into my stash of fabric and pulled out two pieces that were weirdly cut and too small for any thing else.

I choose one to be spunky with polka dots and the other to be a bit more girly with a bright flower pattern. That way she could wear it with a dress or shorts.

It took me about two hours to make this hat. I have never made one before and had to learn the new technique of making one small piece of fabric fit on to a larger one by cutting into it. In the end the hat turned out great. I can't wait to make another one!
