Break from the heat

Here in Tucson we are luck enough to have Mt. Lemmon just 45 minutes away. So I packed up the family Saturday morning and we head up the mountain to get out of the desert heat.
This was our first camping trip of the season. Yes it's only the first week of April but already we've seen temperatures in the 90's. It was nice to get away from electricity and technology for a while.
Sofia had a great time helping set up the tent.

After the tent was set up it was time for lunch.
We took a hike after lunch. It didn't last more then an hour as Sofia really wanted to walk.

I took the time to teach her a little bit about the trees in a the area. We gave the trees some hugs and smelled the bark for that lovely vanilla scent you get from Ponderosa pines.

She took the hugging of nature very seriously!

Lots of fun was had in the ashy dirt around our campsite. She was covered in dirty. It was very funny. This picture was actually the second time we tried to clean her up. The first time was even worse.
We made some new friends and shared our homemade marshmallows with them. The smore's I made from my homemade marshmallows were great. I was to busy having fun eating them to remember to take a picture for you all, I'm sorry.
We had such a comfy night all swashed together. Surprisingly Sofia slept the whole night through and stayed in the sleeping bag we got her. Hopefully we can get one more trip in before the baby is born.

How was your weekend? Are you dreaming of camping yet?

  1. It's hard to believe it's in the 90's there when we just got a few inches of snow today here! Dave and I are heading south, near Moab, to go camping this next week! Can't wait. I do miss mt lemmon though:( I love the pic of sofia hugging the rock!
