Handmade co-sleeper and sleep sack

First things first, this adorable baby model is not mine; she is my friend Abby's daughter Ruby. Ruby so generously modeled the soft sided co-sleeper I've been working on for quite a while now.

Having co-slept with Sofia I knew this time around that we needed some sort of barrier between dad and baby. I wanted something soft for the both of them. This little bit of cushion will help Daniele to know exactly where the baby is so he doesn't have to worry if he's going to roll on her.

I designed the thing myself. The pad measures 12x22 inches. Both left and right sides are attached with Velcro and are removable for easy night-time feeding on either side. The fabric is from my SAS stash. Wanting to keep up on my eco-friendly ways, I stuffed it with 100% bamboo fiber instead of polyester fiber fill. I'm quite happy with it and hope that it works out well when Baby P arrives sometime in the next few weeks.

To go along with the co-sleeper I made a little sleep sack from the book Handmade Beginnings. Once again using all fabric from my SAS stash.

Making this was a little more complicated then I thought it would be. But then it could be my pregnant brain having trouble following directions.
In the end it turned out well and fits little 6 week old Ruby perfectly. So I'm sure it will work out well for Baby P as well.

There are only 5 weeks left in this pregnancy and I have a few more projects to get done in that time. before my sewing will go on hiatus. I decided make Baby P. a simple quilt from the Lizzy House 1001 Peeps purple collection. I've got all the fabric washed, dried and pressed; now to find the time for cutting and sewing! I also have cloth pads for me on my list of things to make. I found last time that it was quite costly to buy pads for six weeks worth of bleeding. They should be nicer on my recovering body as well.

*If anyone is interested in a tutorial for the co-sleeper please leave a comment below and I will try to work something up before the baby comes.
