This is pretty much what we feel like around here these days. This week as been quite slow. Monday started off well with lots of play with good friends and has ended with trip to the doctor and antibiotics. This is the first time Sofia has ever been really sick. It started Tuesday with a mild fever which escalated Wednesday to 106. That brought us to our pediatrician right away. There was no outward indication of what was going on as Sofia seemed fine except for the fact that she was burning up. However, when they checked her ears the problem became evident, an ear infection. Which was caused by the runny nose she had last week. I felt so much better knowing it was an ear infection. I thought maybe one of the unwashed farm stand apricots we gave her at the market had done her in. You know how mommy guilt goes....
So she was put on 10 days of antibiotics. It's made her sleepy and cranky so we are taking it day by day. She hates the medicine of course like all children. I wish I could cure this with food and herbs but I'm not experienced in any way to do that sort of thing. But I am giving her lots and lots of yogurt to help keep her gut healthy.
She's more or less fine now. No more fever, but a bit needy. I think we'll spend a morning at the zoo to help get her mind off of being sick.
