I ordered these cute scissors, a water color set for toddlers, and chalk. And because Stubby Pencil studio is cool, they add in a little extra thing, it would happen to be that pencil with a peanut on top and rope arms.
Testing out the chalk was easy and mess free. No chalk dust here. This chalk is called Edible Veggie Chalk.
It is really made of veggies. It's safe if you little one puts it in their mouth, but not recommended for eating of course.
Next we got this watercolor set. What attracted me to this was that it has minimal colors and they are large disks. This makes it easier for Sofia or any toddler to get the brush coated with paint.
Sofia is generously testing the paint out for me. Quickly after this she said no more pictures mama.
Last, but not least, are these awesome scissors. These scissors have fiber blades which don't cut anything but paper. I tried cutting my pants, my hair, even Daniele's finger and nothing. But then I took them to a piece of construction paper and watch out! They cut paper like butter. I can't recommend them enough for beginning cutters. They are also small enough that Sofia can learn to use one hand to cut with instead of trying to use two hands. Most preschool scissors are too big for her to use one hand.
Let the art making begin! Do you have any art supplies that you love?

Love the chalk, seriously need to get some for Reece. We love our beeswax colouring blocks and Reece loves his scissors, he is forever cutting things.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Sofia had a lot of fun!
You should definitely try it. At least now I feel comfortable if Viola gets a hold of it!
DeleteSuch cool scissors! I've always loved using pastels with my boys. They are messy for sure, and I'm not sure about how eco-friendly or toxic they are, (my boys are older and not in the let's-put-everything-in-our-mouths stage anymore) but the colors are so vibrant and beautiful. I usually have them do an ink sketch beforehand, and then add color with pastels--we've got several framed pieces around the house!
ReplyDeleteThat's really neat! I really look forward to the day I can introduce Sofia to different grown up art mediums. I definitely see a home kiln in our future!
