In our book bag

We took a trip to the library yesterday like we always do on Tuesdays and came home with 15 new books. Sometimes I let Sofia get carried away and just pull stuff off the shelves and we take what we get. This time I plopped down in front of the S section and we started looking. What we came back with was a really interesting look in different cultures.  We've got stories of Japan, India, immigration from Russia, England, France, the USA and a few imaginary places.

We took all the books written and illustrated by Allen Say. He has written many books about his childhood in Japan. These books give a very intimate look into the Japanese culture through the eyes of child. The illustrations are very realistic, almost photographic in their accuracy.  We're really digging Emma's Rug and The Boy in the Garden.

The Pink Refrigerator is one of my favorites. I like tales with a direct moral ending! I found this book via the latest issue of Alphabet Glue.  Anno's Counting Book is really lovely as well. Each page shows the same scene only it changes seasons and amount of objects as the numbers go higher. It's a great book for counting and finding objects.

And down here on the floor is our next little book worm. She loves looking at Art for Babies and chewing on books!

What am I reading? First Art, in preparation for next month art exploration as well as the second part of Radical Homemakers. What are you reading?

    1. Tucson's libraries are totally lacking in adult book selections, but the children's sections are great. I like to theme out weekly book check outs.
