Taking a little trip

On Saturday morning I will be taking Sofia on our first solo trip. Just me and my daughter. It was supposed to be the whole family but Daniele has to stay behind to finish a project. This will be the first time we'll have been a part for more then 24 hours in the last six years. I think I shall miss him terribly and possibly cry.

Way back when, when I left for Italy, I cried my eyes out the whole night knowing we had to be apart. Now don't get me wrong that was because were going to be separated by 5,000 miles and for a whole year. This is only 480 miles and 5 days. I'm also taking our child with us, so he's sort of coming with me.

This is silly but I have to admit I have a tiny fear we will never see one another again or that he'll find someone else. This fear of course is completely irrational and won't come true. I think it's just because every vacation we've taken in the last 8 years have been together. There for in my head we just don't go way from home without one another.

That being said, it will be a good little break, allowing us to miss one another and love each other even more when we get back.

In the end I won't have time to miss him, we have friends to see, a family party to attend and a chocolate shop to go to. This little visit will probably be way to short. Hopefully it will be as stress free as possible for Sofia. I've planned almost nothing to do and whatever we do decide to do will be done around nap times.

It should be interesting returning to my childhood home with my own child. I might have to rummage through the storage shed in search of whatever toys of mine remain.

My mom has apparently baby proofed her house for Sofia. I'm glad for that considering Sofia can walk and crawl and get on and off furniture. She is my little biped and I am so proud of her.
