First Birthday Party

This morning we held a birthday party for Sofia. It was fantastic success. I've never thrown a children's party before and with so many kids of different ages. We had kids from 8 years old to 9 months. But since kids are kids and will play with any toy they can get their hands on, they all had fun.
The birthday banner and party favors.
For the food part of the party I put out a cheese and cracker plate, along with fruit and delicious pumpkin cookies. The main dish was lasagna and pasta salad (recipes to follow I promise!!).

The cake I ordered from the Village Bakehouse. It was a delicious, moist, carrot cake. I wanted very much to make the cake for her birthday, but I'm not an experienced cake baker and have never made a cake for more then 6 people. This time I left it up too the professionals. I'm glad I did, because I don't know where I would have found the time otherwise.

For outdoor activities I got some bubbles and chalk . Those seemed to go over really well.

Around 12:30pm most of the young babies had to go take naps. So we sang happy birthday and ate the cake.  Here we put the two Sofia's together finally. They are both waiting for cake with forks in hand.

After everyone had gone, I tried to put Sofia down for a nap but she wasn't able to relax quite yet, so I had her open some presents. She is really good at ripping paper.  She received so many wonderful gifts, THANK YOU everyone!

Whew...one year down. Well close enough, her real birthday is on the 21st. We'll have dinner and I'll make some pie or something.... Once again thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us. We had a lovely morning. She won't remember, but Daniele and I will and it will be a wonderful memory.

  2. Well said, Pamela, I agree! And it was a delightful party...though I apologize yet again for Xander's dramatic exit ;) Oh, and I meant to tell you that I love the banner, it's great - I think I'll make one before Owee's birthday celebration, if you don't mind me being a copycat. Also, love the top family photo!

  3. Amy- I think you should be a copy cat! Then you don't have to buy a banner ever again.
