Raise your banner high
This coming weekend I am throwing a birthday party for Sofia's 1st birthday. I've decided to make her a birthday banner among hoer things. I love the idea that we will be able to use this banner over and over for years. It was really easy to make. I really didn't need to use directions, but I took them from One Yard Wonders.
The basic directions are this:
draw a triangle 6 1/2 inches wide and 8 inches down. Cut out enough triangles to spell whatever it is you want to say. Then double that so you have two pieces of fabric for every flag. With right sides together, sew up the side leaving the flat top portion open. Turn each flag inside out and press. Then pin them to contrasting biased tape and sew.
On plain paper draw out the letters you will need or use the computer and print them out. I drew them as the thought of going through all the font types was to daunting. Cut out the letters and pin them to your felt or other contrasting fabric. Cut them out. With hot glue or fabric glue glue each letter on to the flags. Yay your done!
This whole project took about two days. I might make an Italian banner as well, that says "Auguri". Then we can use it for any occasion.
Happy birthday to your little one! I love those banners. I didn't make one this year, we did leaf garland instead but I still have them from the other years.
ReplyDeleteI saw on your blog the lovely decorations you did. I think they were fantastic!
