A book of O's

I've been working diligently every night this week to make a book of O's for little Owen who just turned 1 year old. He is having a birthday party today and I finished the book last night. This has to be one of my most favorite things I've ever made. Sofia will be getting a book of S's as well as she seemed to really love Owen's book. Each page of the book has a different word starting with O. The entire book is made of felt and embroidery thread. I had a really great time working on this. Thanks little Owen for the inspiration.

Owen's daddy Sam is a big Star Wars fan, so we included an Obi-Wan Kenobi. It was the hardest page to make, but also probably my favorite.

Pages like Ocean and Oxygen were designed later on in the process, when I was more familiar with the it and I felt like I could branch out. One of the best aspects of exploring one letter is that you get to include less common words than the average baby book.
Construction of the book was fairly simple. I cut the base pages out measuring 6x6. Then I cut out shapes for each figure and appliqued them on. Then embroidered the word on the page. When I finished every page I then used a zigzag stitch to sew them together using my sewing machine. Finally for the binding, I used a blanket stitch.
