And voila maternity pajama pants. They are so comfortable! I love them. I need to make another pair very soon here.
Since I am using previous made pants I will cut right to the point where I started which was by removing the elastic waist band. Making the belly band is quite simple. All you need is some knit fabric like jersey knit and a sewing machine. Depending on your current size you'll want to make the band either 4 or 8 inches high when finished. I made this one 8 inches as I plan to wear these well into the 3 trimester if I can.
First you want to wrap the fabric around your waist tightly but not too tight. Then put a pin in it when you will need to cut.
Lay the fabric on the floor and using a ruler measure out twice the length you want the final to be. So in my case I measured 16 inches. Now cut your fabric so the stretch is in the long part of rectangle. The last thing you want is to cut against the stretch and not be able to stretch your knit fabric.
