Every night we when we put Sofia to bed we have to sit on the floor because her toddler bed is so low to the ground. I've been dealing with sitting on two pillows, one for my bum and one for my back. But finally after 8 1/2 months of this I decided it was time to finally make a comfy floor cushion to sit on. My pregnant body can't take anymore middle of the night sessions without something comfy to sit on. So I took some SAS stash fabric and two seat cushion I had bought for another purpose but never got to and got to work.
What I did was really simple. I placed the fabric right side up, placed the cushions one on top of the other on the fabric, then wrapped the fabric around the cushions. I pinned the fabric closed along the edges of the cushion leaving the top side open. I took the cushions out and then sewed up the two pinned sides. I then sewed the corners flat so you get that perfect box look. Finally I folded up the open side like a present and pinned it. Then did an invisible edge stitch by hand.
have you thought about using throw pillows (larger ones) for the floor from the thrift store? it works for us!
ReplyDeleteyour pillow looks great!
My mom made some big puffy bean bag pillows for my cousins years ago. They had big "cows in a field" print on them (materials that she also made blankets for my brother). They were awesome!

Pamela, what I really want are huge cushions like the ones you recovered. I really like those ones.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn, can you find a picture of this cow print, I'm really curious!
I will try to remember to take a picture of the old blanket that's at my parents' house. Will email it to you.
