On the potty train...diaper free here we come

Well I meant to write this post a week ago when we started to potty train Sofia, but we got caught up in potty training and I forgot. Now it's a week later and I can tell you the results so far! Sofia incredibly is potty trained. Atleast during the day time. I wouldn't expect her to be night time trained as that takes a long time to learn.

What prompted me to potty train her was that she kept showing signs of readiness. She would tell me when she had gone and would pull at her diaper. She seemed to always be uncomfortable with a wet diaper on and complain that it hurt her. Plus she always wanted to watch when either of us went to the bathroom. She would even sit on the potty we bought her ages ago. So I suggested to Daniele about potty training her. For some reason which still eludes me, he was really up for it. We went out that afternoon and bought a second potty which we let Sofia choose. We even got her underwear as an incentive once she was able to use the potty without accidents. Note: apparently they don't make undies for petite toddlers. Sofia is swimming in these 2t undies. I guess I'll need to make her some that fit.

The way we went about this was really simple based on the 3 day method. From day one no diaper, no pants, no undies. The first day she went once in the potty, as soon as we took it out of the box. The second day was a horrible mess. Then we found her some books and cute video on YouTube about going in the potty. After that it went really well. Of course we still have accidents here and there and some days are better then others. It feels really good to change a few less diapers!
